The global state of smoking and health country profiles provide an overview of the countries with the highest tobacco use and its consequences on the health and economic wellbeing of its citizens. The profiles include the latest data available regarding key trends in tobacco use, disease burden, the regulatory environment, and efforts to diversify the agriculture sector away from tobacco. These profiles also link to country reports, which consist of deep dive analyses by the Foundation’s grantees on the aforementioned areas. In addition, the Foundation’s grantees have developed economics reports, which consider various topics relating to the economics of tobacco use, including the impact of economic and regulatory policies related to tobacco cessation and harm reduction. Collectively, these pages and reports address a knowledge gap in understanding tobacco, its use, and its consequences, particularly in low- to middle-income countries where tobacco use often is high and capacity to conduct such research often is low.
