The Foundation for a Smoke-Free World is committed to funding novel, non-duplicative research and engaging in direct charitable activities focusing on scientific and regulatory gaps. Each awarded grant relates to at least one of the “smoke-free purposes,” described in the Foundation’s Certificate of Incorporation, Article Third.
The Foundation funds grants in three broad categories:
The Foundation’s research program is guided by experienced researchers, scientists, and policy experts. The process for screening, reviewing, and awarding grants is conducted in a transparent manner and includes explicit and clear guidelines for grant applications. The grant selection process is supported by independent peer review with no influence, involvement or participation from the tobacco industry or any other industry or commercial entity.
